It has been clear to most of the Christian believers that we have three major enemies, and that our battle with these three is what decides whether we will or will not be able to enter into God’s heaven.
The first and the ever-present enemy is none other than the flesh we live in. It was brought into authority by sin and has ruled mankind since then. We cater to its every demand and know no other manner of living except to please this flesh with every desire it has. The multitude of deficiencies this flesh has are hard to enumerate because of its great numbers.
From the ever laziness, to its insatiable desire to consume everything which is not good for its health, to its rebellion of those laws that bring us closer to life.
The second is slightly less difficult. It is the world we must live in, the one we have corrupted with pleasure. This world is now so “enticing” that we are barely able to keep its multitude of “deviations” from overwhelming our need for salvation. So contaminated is the Christian of our “modern” times that The Lord can barely speak to them and He has remained at a distance because of such contamination. We can change the “wording” but in God’s knowledge… it is still a sin.
The “old man” has never been replaced by the “new man”. We have believed in God’s promise of salvation, we have believed in “church going”, we have believed in heaven or hell, but we have remained chained to the flesh and its desires. The “old man” is still within us.
Third and most devious, is a being that has always shown a skillful use of underhanded tactics to achieve his goals… the devil. His weapons are many, among these, and the most lethal is the fact that we do not know the manner in which he works to destroy all of mankind, especially… Christians.
His darts, (as we call them), are a very complicated multitude of mind thoughts he has been permitted to “implant” in every person upon this planet. It is a “mind game” the devil has been very astute in developing and utilizing effectively. If and for as long as we remain ignorant of these mind games, we will never have victory over his stratagems.
These mind darts range from those who are utilized on simple minded people, to those which are more complicated, utilized on Christians who have obtained a certain knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Many are those whom he has “dethroned” through these evil mind darts.
The victory winner has been something our Good God has told us from the very beginning…
“Seek ye Me, and ye shall live;” (Amos 5:4)
“for it is time to seek The Lord, (Hosea 10:12)
“And ye shall seek Me, and ye shall find Me, when ye shall search for Me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 10:12)
The “old man” cannot be changed, he has to be… replaced. The Lord does not change the “old man” in us… he replaces it. A new man, a new person.
The world cannot be changed, the promise is a new world and a new sky. “Friendship” with the world… is enmity with God. (Period) No amount of word changing can alter this law. Do not be deceived… or deceive yourself.
The mind game we ignore so gladly, easily, readily, is won only through The Word of God. Dwelling in The Word of God, living in The Word of God, memorizing The Word of God. It is the only manner we can overcome the evil darts which come constantly into our minds.
“and these words… shall be in thine heart, and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and thou shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine home, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up, and thou shall bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes, and thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates… (Deuteronomy 6:6-9) (Periods skipped) King James version 1913
The victory winner is The Lord. Everything we may need, everything we may want, everything pertaining to our salvation will be provided by The Lord… if… we seek Him with all our heart, with all our mind.
All good gifts, all good things, everything which pertains to life… comes from The Lord. Strength, wisdom, joy, happiness, everlasting life, and all those things which are good, are things God shares un-selfishly, abundantly, with all of His children.
The un-known can only be known when we strive for understanding. Faith is a leap worth taking, and eternity awaits.
